What supplies does a fashion designer need?

I am starting as a fashion designer, and I have looked for the answer to this, but for some reason I cannot find anything. What supplies (materials) does a fashion designer need. I want to be able to create professional looking dresses and apparel before I go to fashion school. Any ideas? I already know the basics, like a ruler and scissors, but feel free to include those in your answer!
