To start a business or to go to Fashion Design school?

Here’s the deal: I skipped school this year to opt for “rest” but now that I’m totally blank, I want to do something productive and long-term. Now, should I start a small food business and start taking fashion design classes in addition to regular classes?

OR should I go to fashion design now and start a business after graduation?

I like the former, but what do you think?

Is there such thing as a fashion design class revolved around Japanese fashion?

I’d like to know if there are colleges and/or classes in the US (preferably California) that revlolve around Japanese fashion. I don’t know much about it and I haven’t found very good things on Google. How about any books about the topic?
I would like to travel to Japan in the future, so I am planning on learning more about it just by being there myself, but until that time I would like to find another resource. Please help if you can. Thanks!

I know is very hard to get your talents noticed in this business since there is soo much competition out there. I know that there is an assistant as a second choice which is also good. I’m just wondering if I don’t make it as a top fashion designer or assistant is there another good job in this career run? If there is what would it be and what is the average pay for it?

Im starting to draw my own sketches, but i need more inspiration. i normally buy gossip magazines and have no clue about fashion. HELP!! i need magazines that contain lots of ads for top brand stores like marc jacobs. and lots of photos! something young and hip, not too Sophisticated. but that would be nice too! My friend and I want to move to Chicago, but she is looking for a college or university in the Chicago area (can be in the actual city or in any of the suburbs) that will offer a 2 year associates degree in fashion design. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this. I’ve been doing some hunting to help her out, but this isn’t my field, so I don’t even know which colleges to be looking at… or what would be good…
